Heather Backus

Heather became a member of the University College in September 2021. She earned her Bachelors in History and Secondary Education at Appalachian State University and her Masters in College Counseling at NCSU.

Heather is a first-generation college student and started her career working in TRiO as an academic counselor. Heather worked with student athletes as a learning specialist at NCSU and an academic advisor at Elon University. She also was a learning specialist at High Point University and worked in disability resources at Appalachian State University. In her free time, Heather enjoys traveling, trying new restaurants and going on adventures with her family.
