Register for Courses

Learn how to search for classes and register through Banner Self-Service.

Register for Courses

  1. Log into My Charlotte .
  2. Click on Registration, Add/Drop.
  3. Select Register for Classes.
  4. Select the term that is open for registration and click Continue.
  5. Search for classes using either Find Classes or Enter CRN.
  6. Add your desired classes to the schedule.
  7. When all classes have been added to the Summary, click Submit to save the schedule.
Important: Classes remain pending until you click Submit. If a course does not appear in your Current Schedule, check the error message at the bottom of the page.

Add Course to Waitlist

Learn what waitlisting means and how to add yourself to an available course waitlist.

Add Course to Waitlist

If a class is full, you may be able to add yourself to its waitlist. Not all courses use waitlists.

  1. Check the schedule of classes to see whether a section has a waitlist available.
  2. During registration, a full course may display an error such as Closed – X Waitlisted.
  3. Select Waitlist-Not Registered from the Action column.
  4. Monitor your UNC Charlotte email. If a seat becomes available and you are next in line, you will receive a notification and an opportunity to register.
Remember: Being on a waitlist does not mean you are registered for the course or guaranteed a seat. You also need to have met the course prerequisites.

  1. Log in to Connect.
  2. Click My Docs in the left menu.
  3. Click Notes.
  4. Select the appointment for which you want to view the notes.

Find My Advisor

Use Connect to find the advisor assigned to your student record.

  1. Log into your My Charlotte account.
  2. Click on Connect under Quick Links.
  3. Select Appointment on the left side of the homepage.
  4. Click the My Team tag. Your advisor should appear underneath.

Use DegreeWorks

DegreeWorks is a tool used with advising to monitor academic progress toward a degree.

  1. Use your degree evaluation to review your degree requirements and progress toward your degree.
  2. Use a What-If audit to see how changing your major or minor could affect your degree progress.
  3. Use a Look-Ahead audit to see how future courses may meet degree requirements.
  4. Use the GPA calculator to explore what you need to achieve a desired GPA.
Tip: Check your degree evaluation at the end of each term and before registering for future courses.

Submit an Academic Petition

Submit an undergraduate academic petition through the Academic Petition Portal.

Submit an Academic Petition

  1. Click Banner Self Service.
  2. Click the tab labeled Student Services/Student Accounts.
  3. Click Student Records.
  4. Locate and click Academic Petition. You will be navigated to the Academic Petition Portal to log in.
  5. Review the information on the Academic Petition and click Start a New Petition. Select the most appropriate petition type and click Continue.
  6. Complete all relevant fields, including the term and courses when applicable. Provide a detailed narrative and upload supporting documentation if applicable.
  7. Click Submit. Your petition will be forwarded to your academic college for review and decision.

Find My Student ID

Find your UNC Charlotte student ID number when you need it.

Find My Student ID

Your student ID number is used for a variety of University services and records.

  1. Log into My Charlotte .
  2. Look for your student information or account details.
  3. Your student ID number is also available through University systems that display your student record.
Note: The number will begin with an 8 and contain nine digits.
