Biology Placement Exam

To ensure that students start in a biology course that will best prepare them for success, they should take the Biology Placement Exam.

The exam is given through Canvas which students may access using their NinerNet username and password. Once logged in to Canvas, students will open the exam using the password: biology.

The exam consists of 50 multiple choice questions and may only be attempted 2 times.  Students will have 60 minutes to complete the exam. A score of 30 or higher will qualify students to enroll in Biology 2120, pending seat availability.

If a student scores at least a 30 on the exam, they should follow up with their advisor so that they may confirm the score and help get the student enrolled into the appropriate course.

Math Placement Exam

UNC Charlotte uses math placement levels to determine which math classes students are eligible to register for.  Math levels can be assigned based on SAT or ACT score, AP credit, or credit from other institutions.

If a student has not been assigned a math placement level or wishes to improve their math placement level, they may take UNC Charlotte’s math placement test.

Language Placement Exam

The Department of Languages and Culture Studies administers placement tests to all students who intend to continue studying a foreign language at Charlotte. The purpose is to assess students' current language abilities in order to match them to the language courses most suitable for their level. Accurate initial placement is a key factor in successfully learning a foreign language. Therefore, students must enroll in the class in which they place. Language course prerequisites are strictly enforced and students will not be permitted to enroll in a class unless they have placed into it or have completed the prerequisite course (not applicable to beginning-level courses).
